Privacy Policy for Local AI

Our Privacy Promise

Your privacy is not just a policy — it is the entire purpose of Local AI. We designed this app from the ground up so that all AI conversations happen exclusively on your device. No servers, no cloud, no internet required to chat.

The short version: We collect nothing from your conversations. We see nothing. We store nothing. We share nothing. Everything stays on your device.

1. How Your Conversations Are Handled

All AI processing happens exclusively on your device. Your text prompts and AI-generated responses ("Conversation Data") never leave your device. We, the developers of Local AI, have no technical ability to view, read, collect, or store any of your Conversation Data.

Your chat history is saved only in your device's local storage and can be deleted by you at any time from within the app.

2. Data We Do NOT Collect

We do not collect, store, or transmit:

  • Personal Information: No name, email address, phone number, location, or any other personal identifiers.
  • Conversation Data: No prompts, no AI responses, no chat history.
  • Usage Analytics: No tracking of in-app activity, button presses, or session frequency.
  • Device Identifiers (by us): We do not collect your UDID, IMEI, IP address, or any device technical data ourselves.

3. Advertising & Google AdMob

The free version of Local AI is supported by ads served by Google AdMob, a third-party advertising service. AdMob operates under its own privacy policy and may collect certain data to serve and measure ads.

Where ads appear:

  • Periodically during chat sessions (every several messages)
  • As a banner ad while an AI model is downloading

Data AdMob may collect:

  • Advertising ID / IDFA (device ad identifier)
  • Approximate location derived from IP address
  • Device type, OS version, and app interaction data
  • Ad impression and click data for measurement

Subscribers with an active Ad-Free plan see no ads and are not subject to AdMob data collection within this app.

4. Subscriptions & Payments

Purchases are processed by Apple (App Store) or Google (Play Store) and managed via RevenueCat. We do not store your payment information. RevenueCat may collect anonymous purchase receipts solely to verify your subscription status.

5. AI Model Downloads

AI models are downloaded from Hugging Face over the internet. The download request includes standard network metadata (IP address, device type) as with any file download. This is handled by Hugging Face's servers, not ours.

Once downloaded, models are stored on your device and run fully offline. No internet connection is needed to use them.

6. Anonymized Data from App Stores

The only data we may receive comes from Apple or Google directly — not from the app itself:

  • Aggregated Download Data: How many times the app has been downloaded, in anonymous aggregate (e.g., "100 downloads in Türkiye"). Cannot be linked to you.
  • Anonymized Crash Reports: If the app crashes, the app store may provide an anonymous crash log to help us fix bugs. These contain no personal data or conversation content.

7. Children's Privacy

This app is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Because we collect no conversation data at all, we are inherently compliant with laws protecting children's privacy, including COPPA.

8. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time — for example, if we introduce new features or third-party integrations. Material changes will be communicated by updating the effective date and posting the revised policy within the App or on this website. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance.
